K-9

 

K-9 Axel is a dual purpose K-9 used for patrol and narcotics.  He is a German Shepherd Dog, born in November 2007 in Slovakia.  Axel began his career with Winchester Police Department in November 2008 by attending a 14-week Boston Police K-9 Patrol Academy. After working the streets for several month in patrol with Sgt. Filtzer, he attended a 10-week Narcotics Academy at the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.  Axel serves the Town of Winchester and surrounding communities by locating people, evidence and narcotics.  Despite being on the job a short time, he has successfully tracked criminals, found drugs and has been commended for heroism in the line of duty.
